Research Specialist

The Research Specialist will provide technical services and other related responsibilities within the WiCell Characterization Lab. This will include performing laboratory techniques, including but not limited to metaphase chromosome preparations, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), PCR, and culture of human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) lines and related cell lines.

Work is normally performed in a typical laboratory/office environment. Weekend work every 6-8 weeks, as needed on a rotation, is required.

This is a full-time, onsite position located at 504 S. Rosa Road in Research Park on the west side of Madison.

Requirements

The Ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience in a laboratory setting. A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in biology or a related scientific program is required. Other preferred experiences include sterile culture techniques, culturing human pluripotent stem cells and G-banded chromosome preparation.

Candidates should have strong communication skills and the ability to work with others in a laboratory setting. Maintaining a high level of confidentiality, accuracy, reliability, and responsibility are all essential for success. A valid driver’s license to make local deliveries about once per month is required. A motor vehicle report may be requested at post-offer, pre-employment as well as annually.
