Title: The machinery of innate heart regeneration
Abstract: The human heart has minimal capacity to regenerate new muscle after a cardiac injury and is a key target for innovations in regenerative medicine. Here I will highlight how models of innate heart regeneration have revealed concepts and mechanisms that inform ideas for therapies, focusing on our recent work on transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms during heart regeneration in zebrafish.
