The SCRMC’s Neural Regeneration Focus Group is announcing a call for Precision Medicine-focused proposals describing neurological research projects that could benefit from generating iPSC resources. We plan to fund 2 collaborative pilot projects, each having at least one PI that is a focus group member ($100K budget).
Group members interested in applying for these grants should submit a one-page proposal (NIH page formatting; excluding references) by November 1, 2024 to scrmc@medicine.wisc.edu.
The proposed projects must fit the following criteria:
- The funding period is 1 year, estimated starting date of December 01, 2024. The proposed project should be completed within the 1-year timeframe with submission of a final report.
- The proposals must list at least 2 Principal Investigators (PI), and at least one must be a SCRMC member. At least one PI must also be a clinician with access to targeted patient population. The clinician should have an IRB for patient sample/cell collection. State UW-Madison IRB protocol number in the proposal.
- Submit NIH Biosketch and Other Support documents for each PI.
- The proposal must include the generation of iPSC lines with a plan for storage as a resource to all SCRMC/UW-Madison PIs. Investigators should not already have a funded project generating/using iPSCs from the target patient population.
- The proposal should state:
- therapeutic gaps and precision medicine goals supported by the proposed work.
- how the pilot study’s results will be used to obtain large collaborative grants (including targeted grant mechanisms).
- how the pilot study relates to the PIs’ prior research.
- proposed expenditures for the $100K budget in a simplified table format. No faculty salary support is allowed.
